Shared Used Trails Trail Warden Program Risk Management for Individuals and Groups |
SHARED USED TRAILSA number of Cape Breton Island Trails are designated as “shared use trails”. Shared use trails are designed and developed to handle a variety of trails users, including motorized such as snowmobiles and all-terrain vehicles and non-motorized such as mountain bikes. By participating in a shared-use trail experience, many trail users with a variety of interests can experience the spectacular scenery of one trail, the diversity of plant material and/or wildlife on another. Shared-use trails provide a unique family opportunity where some family members may prefer to walk while others may want to cycle or travel on an ATV. Some shared-use trails allow trail users to access otherwise inaccessible areas as trails for the motorized sector are often constructed in locations far from human habitation – a bonus for those long-distance hikers and those seeking a more rugged or wilderness-type of trail experience. Please visit the link below for shared-use trails in Nova Scotia. This database is under development so check back from time to time to see which trails in your area have been added. | ||
