2005: Partnership with CBU to complete Economic Impact Study
In March 2005, Cape Breton Island Pathways Association sought the assistance of the faculty of the School of Business at Cape Breton University to conduct a study of the economic importance of local trails and waterways. A team comprised of five faculty members from the School of Business and two student researchers began work on the “Cape Breton Island Trails and Waterways Economic Impact Analysis” in mid-July of the same year. The project included a study of the market profile and an analysis of the economic impact of the “Trails and Waterways” segment of Cape Breton Tourism’s industry on the local economy, as well as an assessment of the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities to develop a sustainable industry featuring trails. In December 2005, the completed study was delivered to Pathways and is available here, on our website.
